Anthony Pettis vs. Benson Henderson Trilogy Set To Headline Karate Combat 43

Former UFC champions Anthony Pettis and Benson Henderson will headline Karate Combat 43 in December.

Karate Combat, led by UFC Hall of Famer Bas Rutten, announced the booking in a press release on Tuesday.

According to a report from MMA Fighting, Karate Combat 43 could also feature a slew of other top names. This includes José Aldo, Luke Rockhold, Lyoto Machida, and Michael ‘Venom’ Page.

The full Karate Combat 43 card is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks.

Henderson will end his combat sports retirement after his Bellator swan song against Usman Nurmagomedov back in March. Before that, he earned back-to-back MMA wins over Islam Mamedov and Peter Queally inside the Bellator cage.

Henderson will look to pick up his first career win against Pettis; who holds victories over him in WEC and the UFC. He lost the UFC lightweight title to Pettis at UFC 164 back in 2013.

Pettis landed the infamous ‘Showtime kick’ against Henderson in their first matchup at WEC 53. He took home the unanimous decision victory after an exciting five-round battle.

Benson Henderson To End Fighting Retirement For Anthony Pettis Trilogy

Pettis has dipped his toes into MMA and boxing since splitting from the UFC in 2020. He’s still signed to the PFL and could potentially return to the league as soon as next year.

Pettis hasn’t fought since a unanimous decision loss to Stevie Ray in the PFL Playoffs last season.

This time around, Pettis and Henderson will meet under Karate Combat’s unique ruleset and venue (the Karate Combat pit). You can check out the full rules and regulations here.

The Pettis vs. Henderson fight will be contested at 170lbs at the December 15th event in Las Vegas, NV.
