Dillon Danis’ brief, albeit controversial tenure in Bellator has come to an end after years of inactivity in MMA.
Danis was released by the promotion this week amidst Bellator’s latest slew of roster cuts. MMA journalist Ariel Helwani was the first to report the news of Danis’ ouster.
Danis hadn’t fought in Bellator since a first-round submission of Max Humphrey at Bellator 222 in 2019. He defeated Kyle Walker in his professional MMA debut at Bellator 198 with a toe-hold submission.
Danis battled multiple knee injuries and legal issues during his Bellator tenure. During his two-fight win streak in Bellator, he was thought to be a potential welterweight star for the promotion due to his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu prowess.

Danis hasn’t fought in MMA since 2019 and made his professional boxing debut earlier this month against influencer Logan Paul. He lost by disqualification after attempting a guillotine choke late in the fight.
Danis faces financial uncertainty amidst Paul’s fiancée, Nina Agdal’s lawsuit against him. He is accused of harassing Agdal in a slew of social media posts.
Danis has called for a potential move to the UFC for his next MMA chapter, but it’s unlikely the promotion is interested in signing him at present. As for Bellator, the promotion’s future is looking bleak, and Danis won’t be a part of whatever time that Bellator has left.
