Former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman’s innocuous support of Francis Ngannou has rubbed the promotion the wrong way.
Usman will face Khamzat Chimaev in the UFC 294 co-main event this Saturday in Abu Dhabi. He returns to make his middleweight debut and to pursue an opportunity to snap his two-fight losing skid.
Usman is inarguably one of the top welterweights in UFC history despite losing the belt. The Nigerian-born star has also helped put African MMA on the map.
Another fighter who’s made an impact in Africa is Ngannou, who split from the UFC earlier this year after a rocky contract dispute. He signed with the PFL and will make his boxing debut against Tyson Fury later this month.
Since parting ways with Ngannou, the UFC has attempted on numerous occasions to erase any hint of Ngannou’s tenure from their media content. This includes the latest UFC 292: Embedded episode, in which a t-shirt worn by Usman is blurred over.
The UFC Appears To Continue Erasing Francis Ngannou Mentions
In a recent tweet, Ngannou questioned the UFC’s latest attempt to erase him from the promotion’s history.

[Kamaru Usman] that’s a nice shirt you have there but I can’t see what is in front,” Ngannou tweeted.
After some of Ngannou’s followers wondered what he was referring to, they received an answer, which you can see below..

Ngannou is usually in attendance in person to support Usman for his fights, as is Usman for Ngannou. But, Ngannou’s fractured relationship with the UFC has made it an awkward opportunity for the two to collaborate in recent months.
As Ngannou and Usman prepare for their fights, Ngannou continues to be pushed aside since being granted his UFC release, and it seems that the fanbase is paying more attention to some of the shenanigans.
