'When Does AI Start Judging Fights?' – MMA World Goes Mad After Khamzat Chimaev Scores Close Win Over Kamaru Usman

Kamaru Usman stepped up on short notice to fight Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294. In the end, the co-main event would be nothing short of memorable.

Initially expected to face Paulo Costa in the UFC’s return to Abu Dhabi, Chimaev was put in a tough spot after an elbow injury forced “Borrachinha” out of the contest. However, he would arguably find a better fight for a replacement, as former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman would agree to move up in weight on short notice to take the fight.

Fans React to Kamaru Usman vs Khamzat Chimaev

Fans were unsure what to expect when Kamaru Usman and Khamzat Chimaev went to war at UFC 294, but “Borz” was the betting favorite for the UFC 294 co-main event. In the end, this was the right call, as he would score a massive win in a reasonably close majority decision after two judges gave him 10-8 rounds against the former champ.

Following the fight, fans were rabid on social media, reacting to how things played out, and how close the scores ended up being. Moreover, they were itching to see how Chimaev would look against middleweight champion Sean Strickland.

“Two 10-8’s get these fucken guys out of here. When does AI start judging fights? These humans are incompetent,” Justin Gaethje tweeted.

“Not a tremendous fight. It could have became one over 5 rounds, however. The lack of urgency post sprawling that takedown at the start of round 3 was disappointing and not indicative of what’s on the table with a W. Happy to let opponent back up and re center and tip tap away,” said Conor McGregor.

“Scoring could truly be in any direction.

Kamaru Usman *may* have won or earned a draw. Or not. But it’s going to be interesting here in a minute. Wow,” Luke Thomas reacted.

“We need 5 rounds, Kamaru was lighting Chimaev up in the third,” wrote Patrick St-Pierre.

“Chimaev picks up the majority decision win over Usman.

Really would love to see that fight again for five rounds with Usman getting a full camp, but I don’t think that’s in the cards,” says Aaron Bronsteter.

“guys, Khamzat Chimaev might really be THAT good,” reacted MacMally.

“Usman did really well on short notice. Khamzat’s wrestling is no fucking joke I would appear. I don’t think a draw would be a robbery but I expect Chimaev to get the nod,” said Caposa.

“Co-main goes the distance.

Chimaev will get this decision, I suspect, but that was incredible stuff from Usman. Very impressive. He’s the story of the fight, IMO,” Ariel Helwani wrote, adding, “Usman was two minutes way from either a draw or a win. I didn’t see that coming. Blown away by what he did on less than two weeks notice.”

This fight may not have been originally on the docket for UFC 294, but it certainly turned out to be an exciting one. It will be interesting to see how soon XXXXX turns around to fight for the title after such a dominant performance.
